FAQ

Is it safe to travel to Thailand?

Generally, Thailand is a safe country for you to travel to. But just like any tourist-heavy country, there are bound to be petty crimes and scams. So be aware of your surroundings and keep your valuables at safe places wherever you go.

Is it safe to drink tap water in Thailand?

We do not recommend you to drink straight out of the tap. Boiled or purified drinking water is fine, or you can stick to bottled water just to be safe.

What is the best time to travel to Thailand?

Depending on your travel interests, the best time to visit Thailand will differ. Although the climate varies throughout Thailand, you can visit all year round. the best months are December, January, and February for the cool and dry season. November, for the beautiful west coast beaches, or June, for beating the crowds and enjoying some of the country's cultural highlights with great weather. Most of Thailand experiences a rainy season from July to October

What is the currency being used in Thailand?

Thailand uses Thai Baht (TBH). You can also pay with your credit or debit card in Thailand. But we would recommend you to always have some cash in hand if you're going to look for souvenirs down the street or for some local street food.

What is the best way to get around in Thailand?

If you’re planning to see bits and pieces of Thailand, like between cities or regions, we’d recommend booking a flight, as there are plenty of cheap airlines, and it will save you travel time. You can also take a train, bus, or ferry (if you’re going from the mainland to an island for example).

For travelling within cities, you can always flag down a taxi or tuk tuk (a motorized three-wheeled cart), but you should be careful to make sure you’re not getting ripped off. The best way to do that is to track your route ahead of time and tell the driver which way you want to go. And if you prefer taxis, find one that only uses a meter.

Do I have to tip in Thailand?

Tipping is NOT mandatory. And although it is not a requirement, to tip anyone, small gratuities for great service are very much appreciated. Tipping too has become more and more common among tourists and is always appreciated. If you do wish to tip, we suggest leaving approximately 10% of the bill. But if you're travelling with Tripfez, tipping is already included. So you're safe there.

Are things expensive in Thailand?

Thailand is not considered to be an expensive destination. One can still enjoy their food and interesting places while on a very moderate budget. Of course, you can spend big in Thailand but even those seeking luxury will find the prices in Thailand fair.
