Labuan Bajo (also written Labuhanbajo and Labuanbajo) is a small fishing village located in the Nusa Tenggara region of east Indonesia, at the western end of the large island of Flores. Even though small in size, Labuan Bajo is now a busy, vibrant tourism epicentre with so much to offer and to explore. A gorgeously picturesque little port on the island of Flores, Labuan Bajo is one of the tourist jewels of Indonesia. Labuan Bajo acts as a base for visiting the famous dragon of Komodo, diving with sharks, hiking up to a breath-taking view, and swimming along the pink sandy beach. Put on your hiking shoes and start trekking at Padar Island, the third largest island in Komodo National Park, and experience one of Indonesia's greatest sunrise viewpoints. This trail will take around 30-45 minutes to reach the peak. The view of the top is definitely worth the sweat with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and the three beaches.
Rinca Island is another popular tourist destination in Labuan Bajo. Walk around the Rinca Island, second biggest islands in Komodo National Park and famous as a natural habitat of the giant lizards of Komodo. There are other wild animal species that live together on this island such as water buffalo, monkeys, forest pig, deer, birds etc. Other than that, don't forget to visit Pink Beach, or Pantai Merah Muda; one of the seven rosy beaches on the planet. It gets its colour from the mixture of white sand with very small marine invertebrate coral fragments which have a red shell. Be ready to swim or simply walk along the beach just to admire this beautiful nature.
The harbour area of Labuan Bajo is filled with excellent places to eat, with a diverse range of culinary options. You can head to Kampung Ujung for the culinary feast and experience the delightful local dining centre for dinner. Kampung Ujung in Labuan Bajo is one of the places to go for seafood.
